About 8,700 participants will swim almost a mile in the lake between Balbo and Monroe, bike from Randolph to Foster and back on Lake Shore Drive (closed to traffic that morning), and run six miles along the lake and through the museum campus at this “world’s largest triathlon.” There are also beginners’ and kids’ events, and they’re all held in conjunction with the 2008 Multisport & Fitness Expo, where 150 exhibitors display running, biking, and weight-training gear, as well as sports medicine and nutrition products. There will be a live Webcam view of the finish line at triathlons.accenture.com. The main race ends in Grant Park at Balbo and Columbus. The expo runs Fri 8/22, 3-9 PM, Sat 8/23, 9 AM-5 PM, Chicago Hilton, 720 S. Michigan, chicagotriathlon.com.
