A poet's long legacy Agenda Free Recommended

When: Jan. 6-7 2012
In its online bio of Carl Sandburg, the Poetry Foundation quotes a friend of his: to write "briefly" about the famous Chicago scribe, this acquaintance said, "is like trying to picture the Grand Canyon in one black and white snapshot." That friend may be pleased to find Sandburg's story stretched out into The Day Carl Sandburg Died, a feature-length documentary that premieres tonight and tomorrow. After both screenings, filmmaker Paul Bonesteel discusses the movie with Chicago slam poetry pioneer Marc Smith. Reserve a seat online. —Sam Worley
