In this kindhearted meet-the-folks comedy by Madhuri Shekar, a gay Indian man named Naveen introduces his mostly supportive parents and sardonic sister to his soon-to-be husband, a devout Hindu who happens to be white. Shekar gets considerable comic mileage from the cultural and generational conflicts she sets up, even if their ultimate resolution in hugs all around seems like a foregone conclusion. Anna C. Bahow's staging for Rasaka Theatre Company sometimes feels stilted, owing to the complete lack of chemistry between Kaiser Ahmed and Riley McIlveen as Naveen and his fiance. But the central family scenes are warm, funny, and nicely paced, thanks largely to the timing and charisma of Kamal Hans as Naveen’s gruff-on-the-outside father and, especially, Alka Nayyar as the somewhat befuddled matriarch. —Zac Thompson
