A Knight's Tale | Chicago Reader

A Knight's Tale

William (Heath Ledger) may be noble, but he isn't a noble. With the help of devoted companions, including a writer named Chaucer and a chick blacksmith, he manages to pass for a knight and compete against the real thing in jousting and romance. This adventure-comedy set in medieval times has several inspired anachronisms, but it would be sweeter if the fair maiden weren't such a pill and more exciting if the villain weren't quite so nasty. Written and directed by Brian Helgeland; with Mark Addy and Rufus Sewell. 132 min.
