Salt Creek Ballet, the west-suburban outpost of classical dance, has seasoned its cast of more than 100 local performers with a few guest stars and a member of the family for its 17th annual production of The Nutcracker. The ballet opens this weekend in Hinsdale and plays subsequent Saturdays in Aurora and University Park. Directors Sergey Kozadayev and Zhanna Dubrovskaya cast their son Alexander Kozadayev as the Cavalier and Salt Creek alum Katherine Bruno as the Sugar Plum Fairy for the first three performances. In subsequent shows the Cavalier and Fairy will be danced by David Makhateli of the Houston Ballet and former American Ballet Theatre soloist Yan Chen. A "Sugar Plum Party" will follow Sunday's matinee, with refreshments and the chance to mingle (and take pictures) with the cast. Performances are at 1 and 5 on Saturday, November 30, and 1 on Sunday, December 1, at Hinsdale Central Auditorium, 55th and Grant. Saturday tickets are $24, $21 for kids; for Sunday's performance and party they're $30, $25 for kids. Call 630-769-1199. Additional shows will take place at 1 and 5 on Saturday, December 7, at the Paramount Arts Centre, 23 E. Galena in Aurora. Tickets are $26, $20 for kids. Call 630-896-6666. The last performances will be at 1 and 5 on Saturday, December 14, at Governors State University, Governors Hwy. and Stuenkel Rd. in University Park. Tickets range from $22 to $26, $19 to $23 for kids. Call 708-235-2222.
