Re: “Your latest Cook County scandal

I was hoping for a link to the Inspector General's report.

Re: “The Real Residency Issue

So maybe skimming it was the problem for me too. It was the paragraph about Orr that caught my attention, causing me to label it as 'making absurd claims without proof'. The appearance of factual information (lots of numbers, dates, addresses), fit neatly into what I'd expect from factual reporting, so that's why I'd judged it from that perspective.

Re: “The Real Residency Issue

The only problem with using 'jokes' to this extent, is that it will alienate some readers (like myself) that have used the Reader as a trusted source of political news, based on the straight forward reporting we're used to getting from Mick and Ben.

Readers that don't already know the history won't get the jokes, and may even, sadly, take this article at face value, believing it will teach them about Chicago history. Personally, I'll end up discounting the entire article as fiction, because I don't want to spend an hour fact checking - something that isn't the reader's responsibility.

I would suggest making it clear that articles like this are a 'satire' piece or op-ed so people don't take them at face value. Otherwise, I would consider this to be irresponsible reporting, which would discredit at least this author, if not the Reader, as a news source.
