Re: “M. Henry

My mom and I were some of the very first customers at M. Henry when it first opened and we became regulars every Wednesday at lunch. Unfortunately once everyone else "discovered" the place it became way too crowded and expensive for us and we moved next door to a very good Thai place. I would still recommend it for some very good breakfast and sandwiches, but give yourself time. You may have to wait to get seated, then wait to get a menu, then wait to get your food, and finally wait to get your check.

Re: “Bongo Room

Been there, won't be back. I refuse to wait an hour for overpriced breakfast items that can be had at various other Wicker Park brunch places and trying to have a conversation over the din of too-loud music and other people trying to make themselves heard.

Re: “Babylon Eatery

Sultan Market on North Avenue claims to have the best falafel in town, but I think the full-size Friday Special 99-cent falafel sandwich at Babylon is just as tasty and definitely worth the price. I also recommend their Baba Ganoush. We always buy a pint to take home for later.

Re: “Animal Kingdom

Saw this movie yesterday and I can't stop thinking about it. Writer/driector David Michôd has created a finely textured and nuanced story filled with visual and metophorical references to the ways in which humans and animals behave similarly when each is threatened. This is not your typical crime family and Mr. Michôd has a way of turing every scene on its ear. When the violence comes, even though you will be expecting it, its timing will still surprise you.

Re: “Jacob and Jack

Jacob and Jack was wonderful! Funny and touching, all five actors were brillant in their ten roles and their timing was impeccable. Not to be missed!

Re: “Earwax Cafe Not Closing After All

Has anyone else noticed the recent loss of three local vegan restuarants--Veggie Bite, Life on Mars, now Earwax, and the current proliferation of restaurants with meat-heavy menus--Bangers & Lace, Owen & Engine, (etc. & etc.), Purple Pig, and so on? Even us Vegans like to go out and eat a restaurant meal once in a while (thank goodness Handlebar is still there!). Are there really so few of us around to keep the non-meat places open?

Re: “Family Values in Meth Country

Excellent film! Worth watching more than once for its timeless story and mesmerizing performances. The dialogue alone is worth the price of admission.
