Re: “Savage Love: August 5, 2010

Jeffin, totally agree with you on the gay relationship thing, but I think there's a larger issue surrounding use of words like "monogamous", "open relationship", and "polyamorous". OMT's gender isn't specified, so it isn't even clear whether it's a homosexual or heterosexual couple in the question, and it probably doesn't matter. I'd like to think that anyone in a "serious relationship" of any sort takes it seriously, regardless of whether it's also considered "monogamous", "open", or "poly". There's a huge difference between fucking everything that moves and having heartfelt open discussions with your partner about relevant stuff happening in your lovelife, inside and out. All couples, and indeed all lovers, have the power and freedom to decide and agree among themselves what they need and want from their relationships, and what commitments and sacrifices they make for love.

Re: “What Sort of Woman Reads Playboy?

I'm interested to know what Wilkins has to say about SuicideGirls.com in relation to Playboy. SG definitely has artistic and stylistic roots with PB, but addresses almost the polar opposite market - the format is online-only, the models come in a wide variety of ages, skin tones, ethnicities, and degree of body decoration. The inspiration is obvious though: with the models all tastefully photographed in whimsical, fun situations, and many classic pin-up poses, it's art rather than porn. SG would never have happened without Playboy paving the way.
