Re: “Three families tell us why they ditched CPS

That woman's comments towards CPS teachers were infuriating. They were false, irresponsible, ignorant and damaging.

If she doesn't want to send her kids to CPS that is her choice, but don't make stuff up and say that teachers are "tired and beaten-down." She freely admits not talking to teachers to inform her opinion. Does she think that a kid's ACT score has a direct relationship to how "tired" their teachers are? Is she just imagining that teachers who work at schools at which standardized test scores are low just must be "beaten down"?

I wonder if she knows that the turnover rate from last year to this year at her neighborhood high school was a whopping zero percent. Or that most of the teachers at her neighborhood high school have advanced degrees and have much more experience than the average CPS teacher.

She does not know teachers' motivation for teaching that particular population at that school.

It's not CPS' fault that her kids can't ride their bikes across the alley or that there are more sex offenders in North Park that Vernon Hills. If, all of the sudden, her kids had a neighborhood high school with higher test scores, would her neighborhood be a fine one in which to live? It sounds like she isn't happy with Chicago.

The only intelligent that she said was that she couldn't speak on this intelligently.
