Re: “Chicago Joe's

Service was so-so, menu is just bar food. My biggest gripe is that the "grilled" chicken was actually "griddled," which is not the same. Wife enjoyed her turkey burger. The sidewalk seating is nice, but not worth it with the noisy traffic and buses. Not a memorable experience.

Re: “Mindy's Hot Chocolate

Very cool place with some kitschy art and a bar you can eat at. The menu has lower-priced selections like sandwiches plus a good variety of reasonably priced entrees. Foodies will enjoy some of the ingredients like shaved bone marrow.

Re: “Tramonto's Steak and Seafood

This restaurant is worth the drive to Wheeling. The food is expertly prepared and very fresh. The desserts are amazing. Additionally, service is flawless and down to earth.

Tuscany on Taylor serves up truly authentic Northern Italian food. Service is friendly. Prices are a bit steep, though.

Re: “Sweets & Savories

"Sweets and Savories" as a name is very misleading. We thought this would be a homey place with comfort foods and emphasis on desserts - nope. The menu is kind of upscale with a touch of French with patés, but the waitress wore bluejeans. The decor is okay, but it is fairly plain.

The prices stood out badly. The beers range from $7 to $29 (yep, twenty-nine). The entrees start at $20, which is for a rather unmemorable kobe beef burger without any sides.

Re: “Moher Pub

Moher is a great little neighborhood pub. It's warm and inviting. Service is attentive, and children are very welcome here. The burgers are great!

Re: “Japonais

Hip, Asian-influenced menu with many sushi choices. There is a swank bar in the basement, and in summer you can go out on the patio overlooking the river. Great date restaurant. Service is very friendly, attentive and accommodating.

Re: “Japonais

Swank and hip, Japonais is in the old Montgomery Ward Building. Food is eclectic with Asian influences. Service is good, especially since they're friendly and the food runner asked if we'd like an explanation rather than just mumbling something and walking away. Turns out the advice was quite good. There's also a bar in the lower level with lounge seating, and you can drink along the river in warm weather. Be sure to dress up to fit in.

Re: “Moher Pub

Moher's is a great little Irish pub in the heart of Edgebrook. Families love to dine here on the fresh, solid food. The menu offers both traditional Irish fare and American. The burgers are outstanding.

Re: “Tempo

Tempo was very disappointing. The food did not taste good or fresh. Our toast that came with our scrambled eggs was burnt. Service was average.

Re: “Costello Sandwich & Sides

Costello's serves up some pretty standard sandwiches. There's not much imagination used here, although the portions are large and satisfying.
