Re: “Hema's Kitchen

I hadn't been to Hema's in years--not since long before the Check Please! effect worked its magic on the place. The food is still great, but the service was pretty horrible. Granted, we were a large party, but it took FOREVER to get water, wine glasses, plates, silverware, you name it.

Re: “Bistrot Margot

Bistrot Margot is cute, cozy, and relatively unpretentious. The menu is solid French bistro fare -- roast chicken, steak frites, pork chops, a couple of fish items. Vegetarians would be very hungry here...

The spinach salad with a bacon vinaigrette was great, and actually substantially sized. The awesome crab cake was one fluffy, eggy cake sitting in a pool of yummy mustard sauce. The roast chicken was fine -- nothing terribly exciting but what I was in the mood for. One of my friends had a good venison stew-=type thing with chunks of tender meat, caramelized onions, and other veggies in a savory brown sauce.
