Nicky Margolis and Boaz Reisman avoid novelty ditties in this musical sketch revue, favoring character- and scene-based songs instead. They skewer Roscoe Village gentrification by portraying grizzled Irish residents singing chanties about their old, lost neighborhood. Later, Margolis--a Second City E.T.C. vet--plays an eager samba instructor trying to get her students dancing, and her song, which starts out looking like a hilarious non sequitur, develops a narrative arc. Reisman uses his guitar to keep things moving at a brisk pace, and Margolis's bombastic style masks twists, as when an uplifting ballad slowly devolves into a satirical racist tirade. Margolis and Reisman know not to overstay their welcome: some songs are quite short, and the whole show feels over in a flash. --Steve Heisler
