Re: “RIP former Tribune rock critic Lynn Van Matre

I started releasing indie pop vinyl records in 1985 and released one album and 5 singles and I always sent a copy to Lynn and she was always supportive of the indie Chicago rock scene. She always gave me at least a mention in her column along with several other local recording artists. When Dick Clark's American Bandstand played my record on their Rate a Record segment in 1988 I was very thankful for the support over the years from Lynn and the Chicago Tribune. A lot of other rock critics do little to nothing to help build the Chicago music scene but Lynn listened and supported and helped champion local indie music and I'm very saddened to hear of her passing and know that this is a great loss to a lot of musicians who were lucky enough to have been mentioned or featured in her articles.
