Re: “Ruby's Fast Food

Excellent variation of dishes, home-cooking at its best, and very, very reasonably priced. I have been coming back for years and will continue to come back for the authentic Philippine cuisine.

Re: “Vagabond School of the Arts

I used Vagabond for all my pilot audition tapes this year and my agents in New York were floored. My tapes at Vagabond were exceptional - in work and so professionally done.

My daughter takes youth classes there, and the teacher is so qualified, kind, and experienced. They are great for kids!!

Re: “Rogers Park Social

If you're an aging 100K+ a year hipster that still wears clothes ironically and talks about how corporate Lit Fest has gotten ever since Ethan Hawke wrote that graphic novel; you'll F-ing LOVE this place. For best service make sure to sport a man-bun.

Re: “Maxwell Street Market

The map has the wrong address. The market is in Chicago not Joliet.

Re: “Cavalier Inn

I love this place ! It's an Iconic Polish / Eastern European Food Destimation . Started eating here in High School (1969 . . .) . All of my Grade School Friends and I grew up in this Neighborhood . We come here for our Annual Reunion Get Together .

Mr. Kasprzycki (Senior) was a Family Man and brought that Mentality to the Restaurant , everyday . I felt I was coming home when I come to eat ! Wally Jr. has followed in his Father's Foot-Steps .

I came to meet my High School Sweetheart on 5/JUL/2017 . We re-connected 2-weeks ago . And she is of Polish Decent . Of course we had Piergoies , Kraut & Potato . And the Trilogy (Free) of Bean Salad , Coleslaw and Cottage Cheese also , (3) Slices Of Rye Bread .

Outstanding Food , Outrageous Amounts At Incredibly Good Price Points ! What'S not to like ?

Re: “Boss Bar

Tried to come here last night. Ran into an old friend on the corner and us, along with many other people were discussing our plans for the remainder of the night. Stood there talking for about 10 mins and decided to go to boss bar. My friend's friend wasn't able to get in because he had rips in his jeans. His jeans fit snugly, and were on his waist- but they said no. I was fine with this until they let the white guy behind him inside- who also had on ripped jeans- because he was wearing a belt . So me and my girl friend were waiting in line, and as we get to the front, the bouncer points in our direction and says "don't let those girls in. They was wit them niggas" I thought they were refereeing to someone behind us, until we got to the front and they made us exit the line....standing there confused, we asked the bouncer what we did wrong. He said "we were standing on the corner about 30 mins ago, so you cant come in" I didn't realize that was a crime. He then says To my guy friend "if you have any more questions, come talk to me tomorrow. I'll show you how to get money out of these white people"...the bouncers were black FYI, and idk if this made it better on worse never coming to this place again. We were going to spend money, and I guess that bc we are black you all were under the assumption that we weren't....? I always hear about this place being racist, but never really experienced it until tonight.

Re: “Monteverde Restaurant & Pastificio

Monteverde is the kind of place I truly appreciate: excellent, inspired food matched with a carefully curated wine selection, all presented by a well-educated, friendly staff. Recipe for success.

Re: “Sabatino's

I've never felt the need to write a review, but unfortunately I will for Sabatino's Restaurant. 1 star for me. The decor is old and worn and dirty. Dining room was tight. We were seated in a VERY DARK NOT DIM corner. Wait staff was aggravated and seemed unconnected. The food was mediocre to terrible, depending on your order. Chicken dishes were ok, however concerning the Lasagna, if I had to pick from their dish or Chef Boiardi, I would choose the can. It literally tasted like a can and processed, total junk. They light a number of dishes on fire, but really shouldn't since the quarters are so tight, it was a true fire hazard. My adult children 18 and 24 were afraid, as the ceilings were so low like a cave. All 8 of us would not recommend nor return. Sorry to be so harsh sounding, but this was one of the worst restaurants I have ever been too. So disappointing. If you value your money, there are so many better Italian options in Chicago.

Re: “Calo Ristorante

I have been going to Calo's for years and this is the first time I have spent $200 on dinner and my experience has be anything but exceptional. I have never been to an establishment where the staff sides with staff when the server makes a mistake. So what happened, I took my family to Calo's for a going away dinner tonight 4:30pm dinner reservations. My sister could not join us for dinner, so I ordered a rib dinner to go. I preordered the ribs with the server at the same time we all ordered dinner. After dinner the server brought the check to me and walked away with my Visa card, she was gone a few minutes then came back and asked to see my ID. Not sure why she asked for my ID when she never carded me for my beer. After I paid the bill, we all left the restaurant and walked to the parking lot. I put the food in the back of my car when I realized the server never gave us the rib dinner. I went back to the restaurant and told the hostess about my missing rib dinner and she called the server over to ask about the ribs. I asked the server what happened to the rib order and she said, "well, I didn't charge you for ribs". I said that charging me for the ribs was not the issue. I ordered ribs and she failed to give me the order. I also tipped this server 20+ % and for what? Another, employee standing at the front desk sided with the server making excuses for why the server forgot the to-go order. She scolded me like a child and said, "everyone makes mistakes; I should not put the server down" I have a right to be upset with my order and I never put the server down. The server dropped the ball during a time restaurant was not slammed. The other staff member at the front desk wouldn't stop with the scolding. She went on and on about how she was going to give me the ribs for free; I should get over it. I never asked for anything for free. I decided not to say anything else to this staff member. I expect good service from Calo since this is considered a better quality eating establishment. Tonight, I have learned that the customer experience at Calo's comes last and their employees come first. I won't stop going to Calo's because I love the food, but I won't forget the experience.

Re: “Captain's Hard Time Dining & Josephine's Cooking

I love the family focused atmosphere of the restaurant. I love the groupie ambiance of the ladies who frequent on Saturdays to dine and chat for hours. The circle is diverse. It embraces politicians, business men and women, and social and community activists. There are celebrations of private, chummy, special days, i.e. birthday, special mentions and other special events. We learn about current events, and support community activities and reject or support politicians. It is a place to enjoy great food and embrace each other, while learning about community, and political activities. Josephine joins the group, when her schedule permits. It embellishes many customer's Saturday activities.
