3Peat's clever improv format: one member gets a word or question from the audience, spins it into a monologue, then the cast riffs off the monologue for a long-form piece. On the night I attended, Brianna Baker deftly ran with the word "pencil," recalling the high-stakes world of "pencil popping" (competing to break an opponent's pencil in half) from her school days. The group piece that followed included hilarious forays into limb trafficking, a support group for No Nuts syndrome, and a playfully excruciating bedtime routine from Nnamdi Ngwe. The improv troupe Villain opened with an impressive physical and teamwork-driven performance; memorable bits included Jeff Quintana as an impressionable freshman girl and Case Blackwell gravitating toward the hotel staff while in the honeymoon suite. —Marissa Oberlander
