16 Questions

Questions for an investigative reporter:

1. Why do rental car companies, Midway Valet Service, long-term parkers, and airline employees all get priority for close-in parking over short-term parkers at Midway Airport? Did somebody get paid off?

2. Why is it that whenever a fancy new high rise goes up downtown, the parking meters that were in front of the old building disappear, replaced by "No Parking--Tow Zone" signs? (See the Mercantile Exchange and 123 N. Wacker as a pair of examples.) Do the architects think they look slicker without cars parked in front of them? Does the city care about the lost income? Did somebody get paid off?
