There are plenty of shows, films, and concerts happening this weekend. Here's some of what we recommend.

Fri 6/29: Houston proto-metal misfits Josefus make a rare trip to Chicago. "Tonight’s performance, which Reader contributor and Secret History of Chicago Music creator Steve Krakow booked, will be a rare opportunity to see this historic Houston band in person," writes the Reader's Leor Galil. 9 PM, Hideout, 1354 W. Sat 6/30: Geof Bradfield takes inspiration from Chicago comedy culture and French composer Olivier Messiaen on his latest project. 8:30 PM, Constellation, 3111 N. Western, $15, $10 in advance, 18+

Sun 7/1: The Train of Salt and Sugar. "An impressive product of Mozambique's emerging film industry, this drama from writer-director Licínio Azevedo explores the fraught relationship between civilians and the military during the civil war that divided Mozambique from the late 1970s to the early '90s," writes the Reader's Leah Pickett.  NR. 88 minutes. various times, Facets Cinematheque, 1517 W.
