There are plenty of shows, films, and concerts happening this week. Here's some of what we recommend:

Mon 6/4-Thu 6/7: Czech master animator Jiří Trnka created magical worlds amid stifling communist censorship. His films screen all month at the Gene Siskel Film Center. Various times, Gene Siskel Film Center, 164 N. State, 312-846-2800, siskelfilmcenter.org, $11

Mon 6/4-Thu 6/7: A Quiet Place, directed by and starring John Krasinski, is a story about living in total silence for fear of being killed by alien monsters. "A familiar premise is redeemed by a nifty gimmick in this suspenseful horror thriller," writes the Reader's J.R. Jones. Various times, various prices

Tue 6/5: Hairspray screens at Pritzker Pavilion tonight as part of the city's Millennium Park Film Series. The Reader's Jonathan Rosenbaum writes, "John Waters's 1988 musical comedy set in 1962 Baltimore represented a good many firsts for the celebrated underground “bad taste” writer-director-producer: his biggest budget, his first period foray, his first PG-rated movie, and his first real brush with politics." 6:30 PM, Pritzker Pavilion, Michigan and Randolph, 312-742-1168, free

Wed 6/6: The stylistic range of Tuareg guitarist Mdou Moctar runs as deep as the communal roots of his music. 8:30 PM, Maurer Hall, Old Town School of Folk Music, 4544 N. Lincoln, free, all-ages

Wed 6/6-Thu 6/7: Having Our Say is a fitting tribute to the indomitable Delany sisters. Wed 7:30 PM, Thu 2 and 7:30 PM, Goodman Theatre, 312-443-3800, goodmantheatre.org, $20-$27

Thu 6/7: At 25, Lillie Mae is already a seasoned country lifer. 8 PM, Szold Hall, Old Town School of Folk Music, 4545 N. Lincoln, $18, $16 members, all-ages

Thu 6/7: Brandee Younger picks up the torch of jazz harp pioneers for the hip-hop generation. 7 PM, Lyon & Healy Harps, 168 N. Ogden, $40, all-ages

Thu 6/7: Monsieur d’Éon Is a Woman tells the story of a remarkable gender-bending life. 8 PM, Trap Door Theatre, 1655 W. Cortland, 773-384-0494, trapdoortheatre.com, $20
