There are plenty of shows, films, and concerts happening this weekend, including Memorial Day. Here's some of what we recommend:

Fri 5/25: LA rap legend DJ Quik found new inspiration in his old stomping grounds in Compton on last year's Rosecrans, a collaboration with rapper-producer Problem. 8 PM, Arie Crown Theater, 2301 S. Lake Shore, $35-$125, all-ages

Fri 5/25-Mon 5/28: Paul Schrader’s First Reformed, starring Ethan Hawke, finds pride at the root of despair. Various times, various prices

Sat 5/26-Sun 5/27: Get outside and enjoy craft beer at Dovetail Brewery (1800 W. Belle Plaine) and Begyle Brewing Company (1800 W. Cuyler). They're participating in this year's Mayfestiversary, one of many unofficial summer kick-off events. 11 AM, $5 suggested donation

Sun 5/27: Flip cars the bird at Bike the Drive, an opportunity to cycle along LSD unencumbered. The stretch between Bryn Mawr and the Museum of Science and Industry in Hyde Park will be cordoned off. 5:30–10:15 AM, $66

Mon 5/28: Chicago's annual Memorial Day Parade pays tribute to the fallen men and women who've defended our country. Wreath-laying ceremony begins at 11 AM. Noon, North State from Lake to Van Buren, free

Mon 5/28: Electronic improviser Bonnie Jones highlights community in her abstract sound practice. 7:30 PM, Experimental Sound Studio, 5925 N. Ravenswood, $10, $8 students and members, all-ages
