Time to plan your week out in the city. Here are some of the events we recommend:

Mon 10/23: Perry Hendrix, who's been the head chef of Avec and Blackbird for three years, prepares a six-course Greek Island Wine Dinner at Avec (615 W. Randolph) to benefit RefugeeOne, an organization that helps displaced refugees get settled in Chicago. Dishes include roasted lamb with pomegranate and beets, paired with an orange wine from the Greek Island of Lesbos. Seatings at 5:30 and 8:30 PM, $125, includes tax and gratuity

Mon 10/23:
During "Down With Monuments?" at the School of the Art Institute (112 S. Michigan), a panel addresses the current controversy over confederate statues, asking: Should memorials that are out of date or potentially offensive be removed? Or can they be recontextualized to resonate with the present? Refreshments provided. 4:30 PM, free

Tue 10/24: Generation LatinX, a new bilingual weekly variety show, invites Latinx comedians and musicians to the iO Theater (1541 N. Kingsbury) to perform—sometimes in English, sometimes in Spanish, sometimes without words altogether. 10 PM, $10

Tue 10/24:
The Museum of Contemporary Art (220 E. Chicago) continues its celebration of its 50th anniversary with "Heaven and Earth," an exhibit featuring works by Alexander Calder and Jeff Koons. Calder's weightless, ethereal sculptures represent heaven, while Koons's massive, concrete representations stand for earth. 10 AM-8 PM, $12, $7 students and seniors, free kids 12 and under and members of the military, free for Illinois residents on Tuesdays

Wed 10/25:
The Newberry (60 W. Walton) digs deep into its archives to unearth supernatural texts, witch-hunting manuals, pornographic pamphlets, and more at Forbidden Newberry: Spooky & Scandalous Treasures From the Newberry Vaults. 6-8 PM, sold out

Wed 10/25:
Tonight is the final performance of Huggable Riot's musical revue Panic! at the Honky Tonk, now at the Annoyance Theatre (851 W. Belmont). The Reader's Steve Heisler says, "The cast calls to mind the tokenism of a college brochure, but this diversity is key to showing how similar are the issues faced by blacks, queers, Hispanics, etc, alike." 9:30 PM, $10 online, $12 door

Thu 10/26: At the workshop Einstein's Nightmare: When Our Creations Do Harm, part of Chicago Design Week, designers are divided into groups and given a creative brief and two hours to complete a fake ad campaign. Organizers modify the briefs, testing the team's design skills and agility. The event takes place at Reunion Chicago (2557 W. North), and snacks and drinks will be provided. 5-8:30 PM, $15
