Planning the post-Thanksgiving weekend in Chicago? Here's some of what we recommend:

Friday 11/27: A different local choir leads Caroling at Cloud Gate, an annual tradition each week at the Bean (Michigan and Randolph), with the Oakdale Youth Choir kicking things off tonight. 6PM

11/27-12/6: The Music Box Theatre (3733 N. Southport) screens the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic The Sound of Music, but louder and interactive. Dress as your favorite character for the chance to win prizes. Showtimes vary

11/27-1/3: The annual winter festival ZooLights, now in its 16th year, features more than 1.5 million Christmas lights, ice-sculpting demonstrations, visits with Santa, and live music. Check it out at the Lincoln Park Zoo (2200 N. Cannon).

Saturday 11/28: Bell Hop at the Virgin Hotel (203 N. Wabash), the new stand-up showcase from the mind of Ian Abramson, features Danny Kallas, Reena Calm, Daniel Kibblesmith, Cleveland Anderson, and Fran Hoepfner. 7 PM

Saturday 11/28: "Chicago's rare-soul dance party," Windy City Soul Club, spends an evening at the Empty Bottle (1035 N. Western), where DJs spin northern-soul and Motown-style tunes. 9 PM

Sunday 11/29: The Empty Bottle Book Club (at the Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western, naturally) is back! On the bill this time around: a discussion of Carrie Brownstein's memoir, Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl. 4:30 PM

Through 12/24: The annual Christkindlmarket at Daley Plaza (50 W. Washington) offers a variety of German-made holiday goods, from nesting dolls to cuckoo clocks. And then there's the food: schnitzel, potato pancakes, sausages, currywurst, and more. Plus: plenty of German beer, of course. Sun-Thu 11 AM-8 PM, Fri-Sat 11 AM-8 PM; Also Thu 12/24, 11 AM-4 PM
