Best bets for repertory: Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (1963), Saturday afternoon at Music Box with a lecture by Field Museum ornithologist Josh Engel, and Orson Welles's Touch of Evil (1958), Saturday and Sunday morning at Music Box. And don't forget these special events: Chicago Curiosities, Saturday at Chicago Filmmakers and Wednesday at Columbia College Hokin Hall, features short works by local artists Andy Resek, Tom Palazzolo, and Heather McAdams; Chicago Jewish Film Festival kicks off on Saturday at Century 12/CineArts 6 in Evanston; The Thieves, a Korean heist film, screens by DVD projection on Wednesday at Chicago Cultural Center, with free admission; and What Happened, Miss Simone?, a documentary about singer Nina Simone, screens Tuesday at Music Box.
