Last week, we reported on local institution Andy's Music changing hands and turning into Worlds of Music Chicago. Andy Cohen, who currently owns the Roscoe Village shop—which specializes in a huge variety of exotic musical instruments from all over the world—decided he would be closing its doors this summer. Longtime manager Alexander Duvel and his wife Suzzanne Monk have stepped up, and with the help of some investors and a crowdfunding campaign, are going to buy the shop and keep it alive. Tomorrow, Fri 3/20, Duvel will be hosting a "metamorphosis" event at the shop to help usher in its new era and show appreciation to its customers, investors, and donors. Starting at noon, there will be a huge variety of live music performed throughout the shop, all day, until 10 PM.

Duvel, an expert at playing Indian music himself, kicks the day off with a 45-minute solo performance on a surbahar, a sort of bass-sitar, one of the first Indian instruments the shop ever acquired. Eight other acts will perform throughout the day, including a djembe performance by Kim DeVore accompanied by a dancer, a 45-minute complete gong meditation lead by Mark Placzkowski, and psychedelic folk-rock band Hall Moon. This massive lineup is a great example of how much Duvel and his friends and associates love and respect music and instruments from all over the world. The show is free and all-ages. The entire schedule of performers is listed below.

Noon: Alexander Duvel on surbahar
1 PM: Jia Senghe on shakuhachi (Japanese Zen flute)
2 PM: Mark Placzkowski's gong meditation
3 PM: Kim DeVore on djembe
4 PM: Quentin Shaw and Doug Abram improvising on doumbek and saxophone
5 PM: Alexander Duvel improvises on sitar.
6 PM: Secrets of the Beehive
7 PM: Windstruck, an ambient didjeridoo group
8 PM: Krissy Ravenwest
9 PM: Halo Moon
