Filipino food continues to make inroads into the mainstream in Chicago, though it's still a long way from the near-universal acceptance of Thai food or sushi. If you want to get a taste of another side of the cuisine, sign up for Filipino Kitchen's No Guts No Glory dinners this Friday and Saturday at Ampersand, the pop-up space next to Kinmont. Chef A.C. Boral's focus will be on street food, especially the kind made with offal cuts like marrow, tripe, and pig ears. (It's also a bit of a reunion for the cast of this Reader story, including underground chef Julia Pham and journalist Sarahlynn Pablo, as well as the above picture of sinangag.) The dinners, which include drink pairings, are $70; go here for more info and tickets.

• Don't want to fight the mobs for Goose Island Bourbon County Stout? Goose will take over the taps at Franklin Tap in the South Loop on Wednesday, January 21, starting at 4 PM. Don't want to drive to Munster to find a bar with four taps of 3 Floyds? Cactus Bar & Grill will do a 3 Floyds tap takeover on Thursday, January 22, starting at 5:30 PM.

• If beer dinners usually seem pricy to you, this one won't: $20 gets you a burger and a beer flight of four different Vice District beers at Brasserie by LM in the South Loop (near the, well, vice district back in the day), Thursday, January 22, starting at 5 PM.

• CHAOS Brew Club, Chicago's only brew club with its own brewing facilities (2417 W. Hubbard), holds its fourth annual Stout & Chili Night on Saturday, January 24. Forty CHAOS home brewers will be sampling their brews, plus chili; a $30 trial membership gets you into the party and a two-month membership for brewing on the premises. Get more info here.

• Barley's Angels Chicago, a group devoted to increasing participation by women in craft brewing, has its first event of the year at the Bar on Buena on Tuesday, January 27; it's a Belgian Beer tasting. Tickets are here.

• Hey, speaking of women and beer, check out the interview with ex-Redeye staffer Kate Bernot, now in Phoenix with Draft magazine, in my new podcast.

• Concierges have a talent for getting you into things you couldn't get into on your own. Whether they have any other talents remains to be seen at the second annual Chicago Hotel Concierge Association talent show at City Winery, Tuesday, January 27. Tickets are $25, and the evening will include a bake sale and silent auction, all benefiting Un86'd, which provides aide for restaurant professionals in need. Call 312-321-8875 for tickets.

• Local food folks voted about a week ago and the winners of the Jean Banchet Awards, for the top restaurants, chefs, and other professionals in Chicago food, will be announced at the Grand Chefs Gala, Friday, January 30 at the Fairmont Hotel. The event is pricey but includes food by many of the nominees, and the proceeds go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation; go here for details. You can see the nominees here.
