In a new interview with Billboard, Chance the Rapper has announced the follow-up to last year's breakout mixtape Acid Rap. The 21-year-old Chicago artist has a new release on the way called Surf that he recorded with his band the Social Experiment. Surf, which will be out by the end of 2014, also features collaborations with big names like Rick Rubin, who produced Kanye West's Yeezus, and Frank Ocean, who scored six Grammy awards for his 2012 album Channel Orange.

Last week, Chance put out his first original track in months, "No Better Blues," a surly and sardonic piece where he rattles off a seemingly neverending list of stuff he flat-out hates. He calls it a reaction to the backlash surrounding his cover of the Arthur theme song, which he put out two months ago on Soundcloud and performed alongside the Social Experiment during his headlining set at Lollapalooza. The two songs are perfect examples of the emotional poles of Acid Rap, suggesting that Surf will have a similarly broad range.

Chance also hinted that he may have worked with Pharrell Williams recently, though he didn't confirm any details. The two were seen meeting in a photo on the rapper's Instagram. He was also photographed meeting Kanye West, but said that they haven't worked together on any music yet.

Like Acid Rap, Surf will be available online for free. Chance remains an unsigned, independent artist, and despite his higher-profile collaborations, it doesn't look like that's changing anytime soon.
