In 2006, local label HoZac Records was launched by Todd Novak and Brett Cross, focusing on limited runs of garage-rock singles. Eight years later HoZac's production has grown exponentially, moving on to releasing a neverending stream of full-length records by bands from all over the world operating in all different types of sounds, running a singles club, and frequently promoting shows. This weekend they release the first book from their new publishing line, HoZac Books—not bad for fewer than ten years on the grind. The book, Noise in My Head: Voices from the Ugly Australian Underground by Jimi Kritzler, is welcomed with a two-night release party at the Burlington.

In Noise in My Head, Kritzler, an Australian journalist, covers the growth and struggles of 50 excellent punk bands from down under, including Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Royal Headache, UV Race, Total Control, and more in words and photos.

The release shows feature two Aussie bands who are featured in the book on each night. Tonight's show is headlined by Dick Diver, an awesome indie-rock side project from members of UV Race and Total Control. Openers are xNoBBQx, X Wave, and Morales Phallus, the solo project of Running drummer Alejandro Morales. The show on Fri 10/3 is headlined by dirgy punk project Angie, and opening acts are Nathan Roche and locals Radar Eyes.
