Looking for something to do today? Agenda's got you covered.

Nothing says fall quite like being surrounded by the paranormal, the supernatural, and the altogether eeriness of a haunted house. A Halloween staple in Denver, San Antonio, and Phoenix, the 13th Floor Haunted House makes its Chicago debut in Melrose Park this season. It has two haunted houses in one, with Chicago's creepiest monsters coming up at the Rising and your peace of mind coming to a screeching halt at the Dead End District. Admission gets you into both houses, so brace yourself for two trips.

Book lovers have had to fight for their right to read what they please since the banned books movement made waves in 1982. Today a group of literary free-thinkers is gathering to celebrate getting to read anything and everything, 32 years and over 11,000 contested books later. The Banned Books Week event at City Lit Books will feature live readings of passages from challenged books such as To Kill A Mockingbird, The Lorax, and Persepolis.

Danish rock duo the Raveonettes bring their distorted, driving sound to the stage at Double Door. The Reader's Maura Johnston says the pair's latest release, this year's Pe'ahi, "opens with a relentless surf groove, but that gives way to Sune Rose Wagner's whispered, regretful poetry and a piano that sounds submerged under the ocean."
