Noise-rock trio Whores gnarl the Cure's 'Jumping Someone Else's Train'

For this last week's Soundboard, I wrote about American Sharks, a party-hard band of dudes from Austin who are pretty keen on ripping through sludgy guitar riffs and bong hits. They're opening up for noise-rock trio Whores tonight at Cobra Lounge. And while you'd be selling yourself short by showing up late and missing American Sharks, the loud-as-hell noise-rock trio from Atlanta is most definitely the draw—and also the subject of today's 12 O'Clock Track. Whores reworked the Cure's "Jumping Someone Else's Train" on a split they did with Rabbits that was released back in February, and in doing so basically took a pickax to the track, slowing it down to a trudge and unleashing some feedback that would probably force Robert Smith to reach for a pair of earplugs.
