It's obvious that pretty much everyone loves the Replacements. And it's pretty safe to say that most everyone likes Lorde a whole lot too, even if they don't want to admit it. So when you put the two together, greatness is completely expected. Today's 12 O'Clock Track is the B-side to Lorde's "Tennis Court" single from last summer, a cover of the Replacements' 1985 classic "Swingin Party" off of their Tim LP. Taking one of the band's more delicate moments, Lorde adds her signature jaded somberness to the song to make it even deeper and darker. The outcome is excellent and is a great reminder of why both artists' voices and melodic abilities are so remarkable.
