Brooklyn-based Slothrust play up that they're a mix of blues-inflected grunge and punk. But while that's kind of true, front woman Leah Wellbaum can definitely lay down a hearty guitar lick or two, and if today's 12 O'Clock Track, "Crockpot," is any indication, Slothrust is most decidedly a grunge band. It's Wellbaum's husky vocals, in which she effectively sounds completely disenchanted between curses, it's the heavy and raw chorus, and it's the brooding—oh, the brooding. The track's just flat-out addictive, and soon to be released on a great album (Of Course You Do drops 2/18 on Ba Da Bing!).
