Looking for something to do today? Agenda's got you covered.

Joe Brewster and Michele Stephenson's documentary American Promise, tracks 13 years in the lives of two middle-class African-American families trying to put their sons on the right educational path. It's playing today through Wednesday at the Gene Siskel Film Center. One of our movie recommendations for fall.

Young Chicago Authors' Louder Than a Bomb University (College Slam) is bringing all things poetry to the Chicago Cultural Center this weekend. College-age poets, writers, and spoken-word artists convene to hone their craft. Olympic-style poetry bouts are open to the public periodically over the course of the next two days, including tonight.

The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses' Second Quest features music new and old from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and a return trip to the land of Hyrule in this performance adapted from Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda franchise. See it at the Chicago Theatre.
