If you've heard the avant garde NYC rapper Le1f's underground twerk anthem "Wut" you are probably well familiar with the work of a guy named Matrixxman, who as one half of the production crew 5kinandbone5 was responsible for its uber-raunchy beat. Lately he's been working solo, and packing his SoundCloud page with original works and remixes that explore the sounds of early electronic music. Today Brooklyn's Fifth Wall label released his XX Files EP which contains six tracks that split the difference between the first generation of Detroit techno and the first generation of Chicago house, with sparsely arranged grooves and sounds straight out of the predigital times.

You can check out the extremely chill but still respectably bumping "A Witness" after the jump, and stream the entire EP on SoundCloud.
