Looking for something to do today? Agenda's got you covered:

Kevin Powers was a machine gunner in Iraq at the age of 17. He then wrote a war novel called The Yellow Birds. Powers discusses his literary debut at Tribune Tower.

Six murals by Hale Woodruff hang in the Chicago Cultural Center; an extensive conservation project in 2011 helped preserve the Harlem Renaissance artist's work. Three tell the story of the slave ship Amistad and three more depict the Underground Railroad.

At the Harold Washington Library Center, Hollywood veteran David Misch speaks and signs copies of his new book, Funny: The Book, which Aimee Levitt writes "delves into history, philosophy, psychology, and science, with a special focus on a few gifted practitioners (mostly American). He also dissects some jokes and invokes the names Aristotle, Freud, Hegel, and Schopenhauer—but the last only because it sounds funny."
