This week's Gossip Wolf mentions Saturday's record-release show for local combo the Funs at DIY spot Space Club HQ. The night's excellent lineup is headlined by Oakland's Warm Soda, a band that Matthew Melton put together when his former project, Bare Wires, imploded shortly after last year's SXSW. With Warm Soda, Melton takes the streamlined, straightforward power pop of Bare Wires and beefs it up with louder guitars and massive hooks. The outcome falls somewhere between the arena-ready melodies of Cheap Trick and the sleazy glam of Slade. Their self-titled debut LP came out near the end of last year on San Francisco's Castle Face Records, and it sounds really fun and even kind of dangerous. "Jeanie Loves Pop," one of the record's highlights, can be heard after the jump.

We're not allowed to post the address for Space Club HQ, but you guys have Google. Attendance is highly recommended.
