A "festival" of performances stretched across five months will bring eleven newly commissioned dance works by local companies to Roosevelt University's Auditorium Theatre stage, its Katten/Landau Studio, and other locations around the city this winter and spring.

The Music + Movement Festival will pair dance companies with musicians for performances that begin in February and extend through June. The schedule includes "Havana Blue," by River North Dance Chicago and Orbert Davis’ Chicago Jazz Philharmonic, which was already slated as part of the Auditorium Theatre’s 2012-13 Season.

Here's the company line-up:

Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre
Chicago Human Rhythm Project
Chicago Multi-Cultural Dance Center’s Bryant Ballet
DanceWorks Chicago
Full Effect Entertainment Theatrical Dance Company
Joel Hall Dancers
Kalapriya Dance Company
Kuumba Lynx
Mexican Dance Ensemble
Thodos Dance Chicago

A May showcase at the Auditorium Theatre will feature five of the new pieces (to be selected by a panel of jurors) and will also include performances by Giordano Dance Chicago and Luna Negra Dance Theater.

Tickets are on sale now at, the Auditorium Theatre Box Office (50 E Congress Pkwy), or by phone at 800-982-2787. A festival pass is $99.
