Over the years, local quartet Maps & Atlases have gotten more popular as their sound has moved away from their techy math-rock roots and toward something more accessible and hooky. Now Atlases guitarist Erin Elders has started a new project, Wedding Dress, in which he abandons the heady rhythms and tapped guitars of his full-time band and dives straight into airy, pretty pop. Below I've posted my favorite song of theirs, "The Mange," and five more are available on their Soundcloud page. Elders tells me that the direction of Wedding Dress is still being refined, and that he can only work on it intermittently because Maps & Atlases are so often on tour—but he says we can expect more music and some live shows when M&A have a break.
