Headlines on the Web today and yesterday, about Ann Romney's speech at the Republican National Convention:

"Ann Romney's RNC task: Humanize Mitt" (Politico)

"In Speech, Ann Romney Will Try to Humanize Mitt" (New York Times blog)

"Ann Romney Takes Biggest Stage Yet To Humanize Husband" (Bloomberg.com)

"Ann Romney's humanizing message reaches out to women at RNC" (Detroit Free Press)

"Ann Romney tried to humanize husband Mitt for all women to see" (denverpost.com)

"Disappointment with Ann Romney, the Mitt Humanizer" (Daily Kos)

It's only human to have questions about all this—such as: What kind of human needs humanizing so badly? Is it fair to ask a spouse to take on such a big task? Can't Mitt afford to hire a personal humanizer?

Mitt Romney appreciated his wife's efforts. After her speech, he reportedly told her: "Hello! Welcome to my campaign. I enjoyed your address. It was a fine talk."
