Occasionally, the stars align. A little over a week ago a friend allowed me to root through a large batch of soon-to-be-sold records and take whatever I'd like, free of charge. It was a generous gesture—whether he meant to or not, my friend ended up bestowing upon me a nice selection from the Bomp! Records catalog and more than a few nostalgic gems from way back when, including Wasted Youth's 1981 debut, Reagan's In (complete with Pushead's iconic artwork of Ronald Reagan on the cover).

And then last Tuesday, Cook County Board president Toni Preckwinkle remarked that Ronald Reagan deserves a "special place in hell" for his handling of the war on drugs—a comment that Sam Worley refers to as a "vital nonissue" in his post last week headlined "Free Toni Preckwinkle!" In honor of Preckwinkle's "non-troversy" I've been spinning the LA hardcore punk band's seminal album, which, in addition to being marginally relevant again thanks to Preckwinkle, is also an excellent slice of thrashy political punk that soundtracks angst and disenchantment unsurprisingly well.

Today's 12 O'Clock Track is the album's title cut, "Reagan's In." It's short and fast and pissed.
