Jason Ring, general manager of Frasca Pizzeria and Wine Bar, leads a class on the basics of making margherita and pepperoni pizzas, and tossing the dough too. Includes two glasses of wine and your self-made pizza for dinner.

Taste and learn about inventive artisan cheeses from Utah's Beehive Cheese Company with co-founder Pat Ford. The Beehive Cheese Flight, available tonight only, features their Barely Buzzed (cheddar with espresso and lavender) Teahive (cheddar with bergamot and black tea) and Seahive (cheddar with sea salt) varieties for $12.

Road Food: Exploring the Midwest One Bite at a Time is a weekend-long symposium of authors, chefs, journalists, and historians speaking about Midwestern road food. Friday and Saturday's ticket gets you three meals on Saturday, paying separately for a Friday food truck dinner. Sunday features breakfast, lunch, and a tour of Maxwell Street charged a la carte. Tickets required.
3 PM-7 PM Friday; 9 AM-4 PM Saturday; 9, 11, and 11:30 AM Sunday, Kendall College School of Culinary Arts, 900 N. Branch, 847-432-8255, $85 Friday and Saturday, $10 each event Sunday.

Beer, beer-related art, and music come together at Screens N' Suds. It features beer-themed posters, prints, and screens; tastings and special releases from Goose Island, Metropolitan Brewing, and more; DJ sets; and a ticket raffle for tomorrow's Dark Lord Day.

Old Town's House of Glunz hosts representatives from French wineries Domaine de Lancyre and Domaine Cabirau for a four-course French wine-paired dinner. Courses include chicken-liver mousse on brioche toast with white truffle oil paired with 2011 Chateau de Lancyre Rose, and steak frites paired with 2008 Domaine Cabirau, Malgré les Fonctionnaires and 2008 Chateau de Lancyre Vieille Vignes Pic Saint-Loup. Reservations required.

The second annual Pastoral Artisan Festival is more than just cheese (although there's 24 cheese producers,) it also features beer (10 craft breweries) wine (13 vineyards) spirits (four distilleries) 23 types of gourmet food, confections, charcuterie, and 19 French Market vendors. Attendees can taste them all and meet the producers.

At the fourth annual Cochon 555 five chefs (including Stephanie Izard and Mike Sheerin) create a feast from five whole heritage pigs and pair them with five wineries; the winning chef competes in the national event in Aspen. Beer, wine, and liquor tastings, including a blind tasting contest for prizes, and a butcher demonstration round out the evening, tickets required.

The latest episode of Fear No Art's The Dinner Party features Saturday Night Live alumna Nora Dunn, Project Runway's Peach Carr, Chicago Human Rhythm Project's Lane Alexander, with Paul Kahan of Publican Quality Meats in the kitchen. Watch them chat and eat during a live broadcast, while you indulge in food samples, art, and live dance. Tickets required.

The Chicago phase of the VinItaly tour features more than 200 Italian wines to taste. Light food is served, and a new IPad app allowing attendees to "virtually taste" wines will be launched. Tickets required.

As Charlie Trotter's time winds down (closing in August,) opportunities to sample his dishes grow fewer. This six-course 25th-anniversary luncheon, coinciding with Chicagourmets' 15th anniversary, is one of them. Offerings include charred skipjack with ponzu and fava beans paired with Cava "L'Hereu-Reserva" Raventos Blanc 2008, and Broken Arrow Ranch antelope with toasted espresso, crumbled oats and boudin noir paired with Rioja "El Puntido" Vinedos de Paganos 2006. Author David Downie is the guest of honor, includes a kitchen and wine cellar tour.Reservations required.
