A couple random local style items today

Posted By on 04.03.12 at 01:57 PM

Local designer Agga B. has launched an online “Dress du Jour,” whereby she picks a dress from her collection every Monday and offers it at a discount for seven days. (That would technically make it a “Dress de Semaine,” but let’s not quibble.) This week her choice is a sheath in a cracking orange print with a sheer orange top layer that’s gathered in the back. It’s normally $230 but is available online for $155 through next Monday.

People who notice these things always say Chicago is a few years behind cities like New York and London when it comes to fashion. I thought that was getting better, thanks to the power of the Internet, not to mention more awareness of and appreciation for style locally. However, local media coverage doesn't always help our image as a fashion backwater: according to Crain’s Chicago Business, the city's businesswomen really love their Christian Louboutin platform heels! That's news that might have been fresh in 2006.
