3Arts names 12 winners

3Arts, an organization established with proceeds from the 2007 sale of the Three Arts Club, a long-standing Gold Coast residence for women in the arts, announced the winners of its 2011 cash awards at a program last night at the Museum of Contemporary Art. A dozen Chicago artists will receive unrestricted grants of $15,000 each. Here's the list . . .

Alberto Aguilar, visual artist
Regina Baiocchi, composer
Kareem Bandealy, actor
Lisa Lindvay, photographer
Norman Long, sound artist
Nicole Mitchell, composer/flutist
Ami Saraiya, singer/songwriter
Alison Siple, costume designer
Jacqueline Williams, actor
and teaching artists
JoVia Armstrong, percussionist/songwriter
Regin Igloria, visual artist
Mirtes Zwierzynski, visual artist

3Arts also announced that dancers and choreographers will be eligible for the prizes beginning next year, and that it has begun an on-line, crowd-sourced, revenue-raising program for all past winners.
