The "Chi-Sound" edition of the monthly Face Melt Chicago bass-music night coming up August 26 at the Darkroom "aims to define the 'Chi-Sound'," according to their promotional materials. In slightly less grandiose terms this means that they'll be hosting a showcase of some of the better local hip-hop beat makers. In anticipation of the event the promoters have put together a compilation of instrumentals from progressive Chicago producers like Zavala, Rude One, Meaty Ogre, and the Opus, including a handful of exclusive and unreleased tracks. Not only is it free, but if you download it, you actually get half off admission to the event. Perfect for date night with your significant hip-hop-loving other!
