"If I’m not having fun anymore, I’ll go home," Dunn told Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports earlier this week. "Flat out. I’ll go home. I mean that. Swear to goodness. I'll. Go. Home. I enjoy playing. Even though I suck. Or have been sucking. I enjoy playing the game. Love it. But as soon as I lose that, I’m gone, dude. It’s true. How many games can you play doing this? This is ridiculous. You get to a point, and you’re like . . . "

Subsequently, he "clarified" his comments, telling the Trib, "It's not going to happen. Zero chance. Zero. You can't get this competition anywhere else, dude."

"This competition" has Dunn with an average of .158 for the season. After he had two halfway decent outings against Detroit, where he twice went 1-4 and had two RBIs, some pundits were suggesting that he'd turn things around after the All-Star break. No dice so far: he's 2 for 15, his average over the last ten games is .079, and his strikeout total is at 124 Ks. The theoretical slugger has nine home runs—as many as shortstop Alexei Ramirez!

You can't get this competition anywhere else, dude. That's why Dunn's the $56 million dollar man.
