Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen has dropped a lawsuit against the makers of FIX: The Ministry Movie, according to the film's distributor, Ed Bates of Gigantic Pictures.

"It appears the suit was designed more as a threat than anything," Bates says. Other parties to the case did not immediately return emails for comment.

Doug Freel, a major music video director in the 80s and 90s, started FIX during the industrial rock band's 1996-97 Sphinctour. The film graphically depicts Jourgensen's intravenous heroin use and abusive behavior toward bandmates and fans.

Jourgensen filed suit in April, the day after Fix's world premiere at the Music Box in the Chicago International Movies and Music Festival. The suit sought to block the release of the film until the defendants paid $70,000 in debts, plus damages.

The filmmakers acknowledged the debt, but argued that it did not impact Bates's right to release the film, and they denied Jourgensen's claim that they lacked clearances for the songs and interviews in the film.
