This weekend Hermès is putting on a "Festival des metiers," or "Festival of Crafts," highlighting the materials and craftsmanship that go into its luxury products; the artisans who make Hermès bags, scarves, jewelry, and watches will be on hand to talk about their work and answer questions. The family-owned company is currently resisting an attempted takeover by the luxury conglomerate LVMH, whose holdings include Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior—but which has been perceived by some as responsible for the "watering-down" of some of France's most iconic high-end brands.

The festival takes place Friday, March 11 through Wednesday, March 16 from 11 AM to 6 PM at the Hermès boutique, 25 E. Oak.
