Daley vs. Daley

You've probably read that Mayor Daley, unsurprisingly, considers his father the city's greatest mayor ("the son will always say it's the father"). For an interesting take, I recommend James Krohe Jr.'s 1998 Reader cover story, "Politics of Necessity: How did such a backward-looking guy wind up so far ahead of his time?" As a friend put it: "Attempting a re-reading of
Daley as an avant-la-lettre political locavore (before locavorism was even a thing you could conceptually pun off of): ballsy."

For more, the perceptive commenters at Capitol Fax are having it out in a thread. And here's our Richard M. Daley omnibus.
