Fait Accompli Watch

Posted By on 11.24.10 at 11:26 AM

Greg Hinz has news of a poll that starts out with guess-who kicking off the mayoral race with a big lead. Which isn't a surprise at all—Emanuel started off dominating the news cycle with the will-he-or-won't-he stories and "listening tour"; he has the most name recognition; he started talking policy proposals early; and had a functional website early. It's also worth noting that his closest competitors—Braun, Chico, and Davis—in the poll have relatively good name recognition, especially Braun, and have also started talking policy, especially Chico. Meanwhile, del Valle seems to have been either quiet or hasn't caught the ear of the press yet.

It's early yet, but given the fairly short cycle between the November elections and the February mayoral election, it's not that early.
