As usual the Reader's music critics recommended a pretty full slate of weekend shows (Aloe Blacc, Luisa Maita, Dimmu Borgir, et cetera), but there will always be more that deserve attention. Check out a couple of my other weekend recommendations after the jump:

Cameron Mesirow aka Glasser visits Lincoln Hall with Twin Shadow and Yawn on Saturday. Like Bat for Lashes and Fever Ray, Glasser embraces sweeping, ominous electro-pop complemented by layers of quasi-tribal percussion; Mesirow holds the whole thing together with her hypnotic, seductive vocals. Glasser's debut full-length, Ring (True Panther), is a haunting portrait that leaps from moments of clarity to fits of raging paranoia, as though the music is somehow struggling with the effects of a potent psychedelic drug.

Glasser, "Home":

On Sunday Norwegian electronic musician Lindstrom plays the Empty Bottle with Golden Birthday and DJ Joakim Haugland. On his recent collaboration with vocalist Christabelle, Real Life Is No Cool (Smalltown Supersound), Lindstrom gravitates toward shorter, more danceable songs, in contrast to the ten-minute-plus dirges from previous efforts. This is made possible in part by Christabelle's sleek singing, which epitomizes cool in every sense as it gracefully slips around each corner of the druggy disco beats. The album is just damn addictive. Lindstrom will perform solo, but I'm going to go ahead and bet he'll perform songs from Real Life Is No Cool in some capacity. I know I'll be bummed if he doesn't.
