Today's big news is that eight months and one hit album after being locked up in Rikers on gun charges, Lil Wayne is once again a free man. I can only assume we'll see his first post-prison mix tape next week.

In more locally focused news, this week's Reader includes my profile of rejuvenated pysch-pop geniuses the 1900s, Peter Margasak's guide to the Umbrella Music Festival, Gossip Wolf's musings on metal, Robert Loerzel's shots from Hideout's Halloween show in Photo Pit, and List previews of shows by Sharon van Etten, Nile, Richard Thompson, Watain, and more.
