10/30—Community Discussion on Media and Black Youth

    Tomorrow the University of Chicago's International House (1414 E. 59th) hosts a community discussion addressing the media's impact on young African-American males, beginning at 11 AM. Beyond the Bricks, a national campaign that calls attention to education issues affecting African-American boys, has organized a panel that includes In These Times editor Salim Muwakkil, U of C professors Dr. Cathy Cohen and Dr. Waldo E. Johnson Jr., Digital Youth Network founder Dr. Nichole Pinkard, and undergrad students Jonathan Lykes and Trevor Wilkins. For more info, call 773-753-2270.
